Purity

Greetings and Blessings!!

I hope you all are doing well! Thank God for this new day. Another day filled with new promises and new mercies. I hope you all had a great weekend! It is the beginning of a new week and I hope that you all make it a great and productive week. Keep positive thoughts and speak positive words no matter what for this week. In this post I wanted to share with you all the topic of purity. When looking at the definition of purity, it says, "the condition or quality of being pure; freedom from anything that debases, contaminates, pollutes, etc." Now, most of us pretty much know that purity has to do with abstaining or being celibate from sex until marriage. But I am learning that purity has a much deeper meaning then just abstaining/being celibate from sex til marriage. Purity and being pure doesn't all have to deal with just sex but it also entails having a pure mind, having pure thoughts, and most importantly having a pure heart. You can be pure all you want physically but we must ask ourselves are we being pure within our minds, thoughts, and hearts as well. Are we dying to ourselves daily? Are we being led and fed by the spirit? Or are we being led by the ways of the world?

In the world we live in today, we are bombarded with sex from T.V. to music, movies, etc. and many have become desensitized and believe that it's just the way things are. Yet, we must know and remember that we are in the world and not of the world. When it comes to living a life of purity it is more than abstaining from sex. When looking at purity it entails how you interact with people. It includes what you think about and how you spend your time. When it comes to purity it is a matter of totally committing your life to God. I admit whenever I heard or thought of the word purity, I thought it was just abstaining/being celibate from sex until marriage. Now, I have a better understanding and knowledge of the word. As women, single or not, we must learn to guard our bodies and our hearts rather than freely give them away to whomever just because we receive a few compliments that make us feel good.

When it comes to living a life of purity it all starts with your choices. Now, this is not saying that it will be easy because it won't be. God doesn't force us to do anything he gives us the choice of free will. But are you willing to make a commitment and a sacrifice to God?  What are you doing with the freedom of choice that he has given you? Yes, the temptation will be there and that is not just regarding sex but the temptations, distractions, hindrances to other things as well. When these temptations or distractions come about that is a great opportunity to do the right thing as it is to do the wrong thing. This walk, this journey is not easy by any means and at times there will be difficult and challenging moments in where you want to give but we can't because that's what the enemy wants us to do. God knows our hearts desires but we must be willing to follow him even if we don't understand. I made a pledge to not only be pure physically but to be pure within my heart, mind, and thoughts. It is the best thing that I did, its not easy but it sure is worth it!

“God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters.” – James 1:12-16 NLT

“Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him.” - Philippians 3:8 The Message
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2 NLT
“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” – Matthew 26:41 NLT
Be Blessed
